- In this country there are a lot of customs held on certain feast days. In some parts of the country these customs are very popular while in other parts they are unheard of.
On St Stephen's day the boys of the country villages travel round to all the houses in the district with a decorated holly bush and a dead wren in it. The sing the following rhyme,
The wren, the wren, the king of all birds
On St Stephen's Day she was caught in the furze.
Although she is small her family is great,
Rise up landlady and give us a treat.
Up with the kettle, and down with the pan,
