    When church bells and trains are clearly heard at a distance weather is good.
    A circle near the moon means a distant storm.
    A circle far away is a storm at hand.
    A falling star indicates rain.
    If there is sufficient blue on the sky to patch a sailor's trousers it will not rain too much.
    A rainbow in the morning means rain before night.
    Lightening in Winter brings severe weather.
    A mackerel covered sky is a sign of wind and rain.
    A copper coloured sunset indicates rain.
    Pink and blue in the morning sky indicates snow some place and to come.
    The new moon on its back is a sign of rain and storm.
    Sufferers from corns and rheumatism can tell by pains that rain is coming.
    A plentiful supply of wild fruits, sloes, hips, haws in Autumn foretell a severe winter to come.
    Blue blazes in fire indicate an approaching wind storm.
    When badgers bring in their beds (made of dry grass and hay) it is going to rain. They put them out to air for fine weather.
    When Mt Leinster is capped with clouds it will rain.
