- (continued from previous page)If you pull a common fern and cut the stem low down diagonally, it is remarked that you will find dark outlines resembling letters, some people say those letters are a memento left on the fern by our Saviour and that they are the initials of Jesus Christ, because ferns were used along his path along with palms on his triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
There is a species of briar which grows in the hedge which bears a downy tuft of blood red colour very matted and resembling human hair. The legend attached to this is - When our Saviour was on his way to Mount Calvary, those briars became entangled in his hair, which was stained red by His Precious Blood, and so to this day these tufts grow on the briar to remind us of the tortures underwent to redeem the sins of all men.- Collector
