  1. There is a fort on Madden's farm in Ballylina Borrisokane. AT the entrance into the fort there is said to be a strange animal minding it. Local people who saw this animal say it is like a cat with a steel tail. A long time ago there was a boy about the age of 12 coming home from a neighbour's house at night. As he was passing the fort he got a prod of a thorn in his leg. After that his leg never grew any longer and when he was a big man he had one short leg. There was also a girl of the Maddens taken by the fairies of this fort. When she grew to be a woman she was no bigger than a girl of nine but she had a woman's head.
