  1. At Corlanty Cross there used to be a dancing board where the young men and women used to dance in former time. This is going out of date now, and they dance in dance halls. Along some roads there are wooden crosses erected in memory of people killed at those places. On the road from Ballygarry to Eglish there is a wooden cross to mark the place where a man dropped dead. Outside the Pike Chapel there is another cross to show where a parish priest of Shinrone dropped dead. On the road from the Pike to Birr there is another where a man was drowned by an enemy of his.
