  1. The Big Wind
The big wind which occurred about the middle of February in the year 1839. It caused havoc and destruction through out the country by uprooting trees and in many cases blowing down houses. Hay and straw were blown around the place. The storm began about 11 p.m. and ended about 4 a.m. It was a terrible storm never to be forgotten in Ireland.
