    Blueball, Tullamore, Offaly.
They do not know Irish nor they are not much good to tell old stories. There are three houses in ruins in the townland. About five people emmigrated to America lately. The land about around is good and fertile except a few acres which is covered with furzes, and sand hills. There are no rivers in the district. There is one lake which is called Pallas because of an old castle which stands in its view; nothing remains of it now only the high walls and chimneys which were built of cut stones.
There is one dark room in it and if a light is brought in it is quenched out no matter how good it is. There is one stream in the townland which lies in Feighery's field called the "Old Canal."
