    After first mass was over last Sunday the sun from the heavens shone down

    Some of the great poets of Wexford were:- Joseph Sutton, Mulrankin, Bridgetown Co Wexford. John Doyle, Traceystown, Cleariestown. Thomas Moore, Cornmarket, Wexford.
    Old songs are:- "The Famous Ballad"

    After first mass was over last Sunday,
    The sun from the heavens shone down,
    On the road I met Simon Larkin the postman,
    and he going to sweet Murrintown,
    Said he "Do you think we will make it
    Will we be in time for the fun,
    For this is the day of the contest,
    Between Kilmannon boys and Taghmon (pronounced Tagh-mun)

    Then we smoked and joked on together,
    For two or three miles of the road.
