The coach-man employed in the "Mansion" in Carcur used to drive the priest to town, now and again.
One day, a British ship was sailing up the Slaney. One of the soldiers in the ship went to investigate the cave. They found the priest and a number of people. They shot the priest and the people and threw their bodies into a bog.
Afterwards their bodies were found and given a decent burial.
