  1. About fifty years ago there were great storms in this locality. The worst of all was a snow storm. Snow fell to a depth of twelve feet in places.
    People could not get out of doors, until they made pathways through it.
    A severe thunder storm shook the earth the same year.
    A poor travelling man named White was killed on the Gurten's road by a flash of lightning.
    Many other people were killed too.
    Horses and stock belonging to the people of this locality were killed.
    A severe wind came too, it caused great damage. Trees and houses were blown down.
    People, animals and birds lost their during this storm.
