    Local Heroes
Around our firesides when old time tales and stories are told of the great deeds and doings of our heroes on ball-alley and foot-ball fields John Simpson's name is always mentioned. About thirty or forty years ago there were great games of handball played in the old ball alley in Kilmannon. J. Simpson and a few others won many a contest. He could play soft ball, but it was at hard ball that he excelled.
