  1. Before the closing of the day,
    Creator, we Thee humbly pray,
    That for Thy wonted mercy's sake,
    Thous us into protection take.
    May nothing in our minds escite,
    Vain dreams or phantoms of the night;
    Keep off our enemies, that so
    Our bodies no uncleanness know.
    To Jesus from a Virgin sprung,
    Be glory given and praises sung;
    The like to God the Father be,
    And Holy Ghost eternally.
    Amen.
