    About eighty years ago there lived an old gentleman beside Gurteen convenient to Ballinalee. This house was haunted with a ghost who made all noises at night. It became impossible for the owner to live in it. So he went to a priest in Ballinalee named Father Mc Carty and asked him to banish the ghost out of the premises. So after a great hesitation he agreed to go. But when the appointed day came a great crowd of people gathered around the house to see him banish the ghost. The priest had a terrible job in banishing him . So when he was learning to be settled between the froth and the water he shouted out. When I get out I will make Gurteen sing and the priest said that's for ever. The ghost
