  1. There is an old castle in Kildeven and at one time it was said to be a noted place for putting catholic priests to death.
    There are the ruins of an old barn not far from this castle where the people of the townland of Streete went to hear mass in the dead of night.
    He who owned this castle was called Red Sprowles, a man who hated and persecuted catholics during his life.
