named James Costello- long since dead- a lot of people were rambling one night. This was a lone man and he used to keep the fowl in the house at night. This night the ramblers were chatting at the fire and the cock flew down and fell dead on the floor. One man said, "That is old Rochfort Boyd giving his last kick and it is to us he would give it if he could. The next day they heard that he had died at the very moment the cock died. The cock also had such a bad smell that they had to leave the place.
When Rochfort Boyd died the people of this district between Middleton and Tyrrellspass and Newel Bridge were out on the hills cheering the funeral.
