  1. (continued from previous page)
Out rode from the ranks of the foeman.
A chief from a far lowland glen,
    And proudly demanded O'Reilly
To surrender the bridge and his men.
But out leapt the sword of the Slasher
And thus to the foe did he say
"You must trample the heart of O'Reilly,
Ere you cross o'er the Bridge of Finea.
    VII
There are weapons and men to defend it
And tell your fierce leader, Munroe
We'll hold it 'gainst him and his legions
While one stout hand can give him a blow
Come on with your kilts and Claymores
Our Sabres have met you before.
And trampled in blood and dishonour.
Your flag on the Blackwater shore.
    VIII
We fear not your forest of bayonets.
That gleam round the swords of Munroe.
The freemen bends not to the tyrant,
The eagle stoops not to the crow
If you long for a grave it is ready
Our bright sabres brighten the way
Come on, and by Heaven you'll fill it,
Right soon ton[?] the Bridge of Finea."
