    VI
    In the pathway of life tho I've since tested pleasure,
    And kind hearts have praised my untunable song,
    Contentment and health have to me been a treasure,
    And joy lent a smile as I travell'd along;
    But fate has no gift in her earthly possessions,
    Tho' health, peace and plenty attend to the tomb
    To equal the raptures of childish impressions, -
    The innocent joys of our first happy home.
