   He went round to inspect his supplies in the morning as he was in the habit of doing. When he found all his provisions gone he cursed them. He afterwards did penance for the sin of anger. Where he died or is buried it is not known. There is a townland in the district called the Knockerc. His monastery is called St Erc's Hermitage. There are plenty of people in the district called the name Erc. The Saint's say is not observed in this country.

   The patron saint of my parish is St. Erc but St. Patrick is closely connected with it too.
   In the year 433 when St. Patrick went to Tara on Easter Sunday to King Laoirge he told all his servants not to show him any respect but when St. Erc saw him he bowed before him and received the grace of conversion. St Patrick ordained him and
