  1. It may surprise many of your readers to hear that there is a man, a boy rather, in Navan who spends most of his time among the good people of the Mollies and fairies of the Moate. He is a shoemaker by trade, but does little at the business, having being left a legacy by his mother, a lady of rank who would have been married to a distinguished military officer had he not left the country immediately on the birth of poor little Jemmy. The result was the fellow was neatly and carefully parcelled up in linen and flannel and left amongst the sheep and birds in one of the vallies of the Mollies. Here he was found sleeping calmly by an old woman who took him into her husband, a busy chatty, well-to-do cobbler, who was at once taken with the features of the child and requested Peggy to keep, and rear it up decently for the love of God."
