There was once a man who had a lot of turf and he wanted to sell some of it.

    (continued from previous page)
the ass go. He told him if he shook ginger on him he would go real hard. There was a shop nearby and he bought some ginger there. When he shook it on the ass he began to kick and started off in a gallop. The turf began to hop out of a cart and the man could hardly keep up with him. He had some ginger left and he shook it on himself. With the itch of it he began to stamp on the ground and run and both the ass and himself were galloping coming into the town. The police pulled him up and instead of selling his turf he was fined £2 and put in jail for a month.
