  1. The people in Ireland at the present day are not as strong or as healthy as the people were long ago. When people would be ninety long ago they would be able to work as hard as the young people nowaday. Long ago there were men who were noted for their strength. One of them was Micheal Byrne. He could work in all classes of weather whether it was wet or cold. Although he was ninety years of age he was able to dig graves and work hard.
    Another man was Patrick Plunket. He was about fifty six years of age and he could run that fast that people used to say he could run like a hare. Few people could run like that
