  1. About a mile from the centre of the town is a townland called Tubberboice, it is at the cross-roads of Mell on the main Slane road. The biggest house in that townland is called "Tubberboice Cottage". The story is as follows.
    A long time ago a man lived there by the name of Mr Didmond. One of that man's ancestors was supposed to have hidden a bag of gold, but nobody knew where it was hidden.
    One day he was out shooting on a place called Firry Hill. It was given that name because so many fir bushes grow on it.
