    Usual spelling Átha na Faithche, but no account of how it got its name.
    Miss Mary Harvey, Clonalig, Crossmaglen. Over 80. Living alone - no land, Mother lately deceased, from whom she heard the following.
    "At Anavackey there used to be held a fair long ago. Priests often used to come to such gatherings to collect money for churches or for their upkeep and it was the rule to give a donation, big or little. A priest attended this fair once but could get no donations and in disgust said:
    "Ó leig as so mé - seo aonach a bhacaigh" and Aonach a Bhacaigh (beggar) it was called afterwards.

    The road through Fetherna was the road used by judges travelling with an escort of soldiers from Dundalk to Monaghan twice a year.
