- Fanningstown and KilderryThis estate was owned by Lord Lecconfield. Some years previous in 1882 he brought over as tenants two Scotchmen - Grey and Ramsey to set an example in progressive farming to their Irish neighbours.
He had built for them dwelling houses out offices ect. and no expence was spared.
Mr. Grey lived where in Kilderry Mr Kennedy now lives and Mr. Ramsey lived in the house in Fanningstown, now occupied by Mr O'Brien.
The Scots thought they would soon amass fortunes and they certainly were energetic. They knocked all sot and (tree) Bush fences - it was a waste of time and of good ground but the unfortunate cattle felt the loss of their shelter when north winds blow.
