- There is an old school situated in Rathealy, and it is in Mr. Walshe's land. It is only a few yards off the road. It is all standing now but there are no windows, no doors, or no roof on it. It was built of stone.
In that old school every pupil had to pay the teacher every day, but they had'nt to buy any pens because they were able to ___ their own out of goos quills. The teacher had a big slate stone and he wrote on it for a blackboard. There were two rooms in it, one for the men and one for the women.
There is also an old school in Kilahy in Mr. Phelan's land but there is only a bit of it standing now.- Collector
