- There were many heroes in this parish. Hurling was the chief field in which heroism was known. There were also many heroes in such feats as jumping, racing, swimming, and in certain work.
Hurling is a game in which heroes were known since a long time ago. Some of these heroes were Pat Clohosey, Simon Walton Dick Grace, Jer Dohoney, and "Lory" Meagher. These hurled a lot of "all-Ireland Finals" for Kilkenny and won most of them.
Weight throwing was a great pastime in Tullaroan and often during the summer evening a crowd of men were to be seen gathered outside a forge at it. Sometime these gatherings were at cross-roads. People also were fighting to see who would be the best mower.- Collector
