  1. About fifty or sixty years ago, the people used to make their own candles. They way that they used to make them was. They had an article called a grisset which they would put on the fire and put resin in it to boil. They got this resin to buy in the shops.
    When the resin would be boiled the people would dip some rushes in it and then hang them up to dry. When they wanted one they would take it down for use.
