    and cattle in order to be able their rents. When the potatoes failed the poor people had nothing on which to live. When the people had nothing to eat there came a famine which could have been avoided only for they had to export their corn.
    The result was terrible famine people died on the roadsides in hundreds with hunger. They even ate the nettles that grow.
