- There were two Saints in Clondagad long ago, St. Scribohan, and St. Ruadh. They had a dispute to know which of them would go up to the upper parish. So they made two gads of rushes and which ever gad would go against the current the owner would have to go up to the upper parish. So St. Scribohain threw out his gad and it went against the current. St. Ruadn threw out his gad and it went with the current, so St. Scribohan had to go up to the upper parish. Since then the parish is called Cluain-da-gad
