- There was a landlord in Ballymacooda Co Clare, & his name was Marcus Finucane. He had a lot of gold. He had a big farm of land and he had a servant boy. He called his boy in the middle of the night and he told him to get the implements and to come with him.
The two of them went away in the middle of the night, to some part of the farm, and he told the boy to make three holes down in the ground. When the boy had the holes made Marcus put a crock of gold in every hole, and filled the holes up again.
When the boy had the holes filled, Marcus took out his revolver and shot the boy dead and left him there and the people never knew what happened the boy. He was a very cruel landlord, and if any one in his estate had a fat pig he would take the pig off them.
No one could get the gold unless some one of the name Finucane. A man named Finucane dreamed three nights about the gold and where it was. This man told his wife and his servant boy and the man and they boy prepared to go looking for the gold and they were going to divide the gold if they found it.(continues on next page)
