    very smoky for the oil used be very thick and the wick was a piece of corduroy.
    The men took great care in the thatching and tieing of their houses. They got the best rushes to thatch them with, and have "súgans" made from straw to tie them with. They had scallops made from bogdeal to fasten the "súgans".
    Some houses had one chimney which was built of straw and looked like a stack.
