2So Hos." They are of the carty tribe and their headquarters is Mitchelstown. I remember one of the band to die in Cashel. The corpse covered with straw and bags, was brought on the donkey cart as far as "Healys" a distance of twelve or 18 miles. Here they spent the night and started for Mitchelstown next day. A coffin was got in the local workhouse and the internment took place in the Carty burial grouns in the local cemetry.
No matter where on of them may die, the others leave no stone unturned to see that the dead person is buried in Mitchelstown. All here agree that they are and have always been very honest, nothing being ever missing after their visit to a locality.
