    To prepare them for the day
    And while in slips they smacked their lips
    So eager for the pay
    The hare he rose with grateful pose
    Across the field he fled,
    With barks and squeals they were on his heels
    As o'er the dew they tread.

    Do'nt talk about Clounanna
    The coursin was sublime
    Jack Corbett's dog he led the hare
    And won in record time
    The hares they made for Donaskeigh
    And the dogs for Mullingar
    And Ned Lowry's bitch, she jumped the ditch
    And made for George's Car.
