  1. The weather
    The old people say when wool packs appear in the sky it is the sign of a storm. If the sun sinks to rest, in a pale white colour it is the sign of a storm.
    If the moon is seen with a black cloud round it, it is a sign of bad weather. You may easily know when we are having frost, just look at the sky and you will see numerous stars shining brightly and see them run from north to south. On a stormy night when the black clouds move along the sky and shade the moon it is a sign of bad weather.
    If the swallows are seen flying low or the bird called the crane is seen by the bank of a brook wet weather is coming. On a Summer's evening when the ants go round in a swarm it is a sign of showery weather.
    In Winter when the people sit round the fire you often hear them say. The soot is burning and that
