    Metheglum (spelling doubtful)
    Brewed from honey in the district was a wonderful drink used as a tonic and also as a preventative of colds. A Mr. Henry Bustall who was an official of the Slate Quarrie always made the men who worked standing tin water in the canal take it, to prevent their catching cold.

    Alderberry Wine: This was made from Alderberries which were pressed, sugar mixed with them and boiled. It was then bottled and left for some months.
