    Poor exiles, as we stray,
    Come let us toast the emblem of
    Poor Ireland far away;
    It decks to-day our brothers' hats
    O God above! Are we
    Who love it's triple leaves so well,
    No more their sheen to see.

    Do we forget the long ago,
    When lurid fires of Beal,
    On Tara of the Kingly seat,
    Gave way to vesper peal;
    Do we forget out Irish saints,
    The darksome paths they strayed,
    Proclaiming the mysterious truth
    The "triple leaves" portrayed.
