    As Lord Mountmorris's yeomen were returning, after a night of rapine and murder,
    they were met at their master's park
    gate and slaughtered to a man.

    The sun is set, 'twill rise again
    O'er valley, plain, and wold,
    But ere another day is in
    Our flag of green and gold
    Shall flutter o'er our Irish hills,
    Begirt by weapons bright,
    We've hid from traitor eyes awhile,
    But now we'll show them light.

    Is that a star? Does God smile down,
    And show us 'long the road?
    His holy eye is watching, and
