    Once upon a time there lived a man who was in the habit of staying out late at night. One night he was coming home he met what appeared to be a man.
    He had a candle and a pack of cards and [tail?] he asked him if he would have a game with him. So they began to play a game, A card fell on the ground the man stooped to pick it up he saw the cloven feet of the devil.
    He got such a fright that he ran away and never went out again.
