    it was down by Borden's tending groves
    I carelessly did stray.
    Where dazzling by amber and beauty night requested me to a shade
    Where I heard the explanation of a young and a blooming made.

    I boldly slipped up to her with compliment sublime
    I says my pretty fair maid I wish that you were mine.
    For d-is your smiling countenance
    Has my poor heart ensnared
    Saying I am deeply wounded and sore in love
    With you my blooming maid.

    She answered me and snad "kind sir" I hope you will give o'er
    I made a vow and I'll keep it now
