  1. The above is a sketch of the Moate of Castletown as it appears from Lisduff School door.
    There is a small opening in the very top and old people tell that when they were children one child would let an apple fall through the opening and his companions would watch at a certain point of the stream, when some minutes later the apple would float on the surface of the water. This passage is closed up for a good many years and the game cannot be played any more.
