   to Ballyneety. He preferred the life of an outlaw to foreign service. He found an asylum in the Slieve Phelim moutains and the townlands of Sean Baile Éamonn (ShanballyEdmund) on the eastern slope of Slieve Phelim commemorates his memory to this day. He was treacherously beheaded by his own cousin to receive the reward promised by the British Government. Éamonn an Cnuic was a sweet poet and some his poems are still extant. Fr. Walsh in his Gaelic "Songs of the Gael" has given at least two of his compositions.
