- (continued from previous page)Very few animals, except bulls, have halters or ropes on them at the local fairs. These halters are retained by the owners after the sale of the animals. There is no local tradition regarding fairs being held near hills, castles, forts or cemeteries in the locality, but there is a plot of ground near the village, and it is said that it was a fair green in years gone by. On this plot a cottage is now built which is occupied by a Gleeson family.
