  1. Long ago there was a kind hearted woman who loved children. She would often invite them to stop in her house for two or three days. This kind woman was very poor and this troubled her a good deal. One day she was going through a little wood she met a fairy who told her that the cupboard in her cottage would always be full of food. The woman returned to her cottage opened the cupboard door and found that it was full of the finest food. The good woman was delighted for she knew she could invite many more children to her cottage. Not far from her home there lived a witch who knew all about her kindness. Then the witch dressed herself
