  1. Irish prayers, saying etc., from Mr. Patrick Devitt

"Is dóig le muinntir Faill Uí Cléirig nach bhfuil Dia ann ar aon chor"

"Tá mise dreoighte is ní mhairfid(?) i bhfad"

" Do chorp dara go diabhal is do phatóga"

    "Mo chorp ó'n Diabhal"

"Fágaim é súid mar atá sé".

"Mo ghrádh croidhe, A Mhuire Mháthair,
Mo chabhair cunta is tú mo shláinte,
Luighimid síos fé do scith anocht"

(This prayer was given by Mr Michael Devitt and was taught to him by his Grandmother)
He did not understand much Irish
He only repeated what he heard his grandmother saying.

    "Cúis gair ó Dhia cughaim"
was a favourite expression with my mother Mrs. Mary Ahern (Nee Ryan) of (?), Doon, Col. Limerick. She was born on 11th May 1840 at Carrigmore in this parish.
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
