    beans in the fire. Each boy and girl puts a bean into the fire and if the beans jump out together the boy and girl will be married, but if the beans jump opposite ways they will not get married at all.
    A bambrack is usually got for Hallowe'en and a ring is placed inside in it. Whoever gets the ring will be married first of the family.
    On Hallowe'en night people retire early as ghosts and fairies are said to be out around.
