  1. Old Songs

One day in the month of December ¶ it being in the year '99

    Old Songs.
The following lines were composed by a local poet from the parish of Manister who was driving a pair of strippers to the fair of Rathkeale. As the journey was long he was to go half the way the day before the fair.

As long as I live I'll remember
for I had a jolly old time.
I was driving a pair of old strippers
in route for the town of Rathkeale.
I was to stop at Pat Fields Drehedtasna.
Next morning proceed to the fair.

For when I got as far as Mick Hartys
the grey one went up towards the lake.
