    up his attention. Meantime a neighbouring woman from her own door saw two lights on the road near their house. She watched them for a while and saw them, like two candles, burning steadily in one place. She and her husband went up to see what they were. As they were going near them the lights moved - in the gate, round the yard and stopped at the door
    The two followed them and when they were quite near the lights vanished. The man and woman knew there was something wrong and went into the house to see what it was. The "boss" was at the fire, half asleep, but when the woman went in to see the "missus" she found the poor woman, not drunk, but dying.
    She appeared to have fallen from the car and given herself a deep head wound from which she had bled a great deal. She was conscious, quite sober possibly from shock and very weak, but barely able to speak.
    This condition the boy had mistaken for intoxication. They made her comfortable and she had the Priest and got the rites of the Church and she died towards
