When they reached the chapel it was time for first Mass. The old man also went to Mass, without going in home and when the people saw him they were afraid and went away from him. The old man got a great fright when he heard himself being prayed for by the priest.
When Mass was over he went to see the priest and when the priest saw him coming he knew that there was some mistake. So he sent his clerk to the old woman's house to tell her husband to go home if he valued his life. "For God's sake what is all this about Father" said the old man when he met the priest. Then the priest told him all, leaving out about his wife's marriage and the old man went home with an(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
