  1. My grandfather used to tell
    us stories about long ago
    and the things that used to
    happen. He had a favourite
    story that he used to tell
    us about a great fall of
    snow that occurred on the
    9th of May in the year 1881.
    A neighbor asked him to go for a load of hay, and as he was about two or three miles from his own house it started to rain. As the rain was getting heavier he took shelter at old Harry Burtin's house at Farren and has to remain there until late in the evening as it continued raining. It ceased raining about half past
