- I remember Ben Sheehy the piper, and another blind piper used to stop a week or two in Kilcomlan. I heard the blind piper often, and another old fellow, they used to call Jack the piper, and Dickie Stephenson used to be teaching dancing, and Jack used to be playing. They used to stop at houses, you know and get the barn here and there, and the place used to be filled with people playing away and dancing away. Anyone got a lesson and paid so much a lesson. I think it was about three pence a lesson. Then there was so many nights after that to practice for nothing. Then if you wanted another lesson, you had to pay again. They would stay as long as there was any money.Every Summer a piper or a fiddler used to come to Kilcolman and they used to play every Sunday, and there used to be hundreds of people there.
